June Devotional

It's June! The lovely month of June ... the month of brides and graduations ... of honeysuckle and sunshine. This is the month that I wait for all year long - not just because of the weather but also because of the promise.

When I look out my back window at the green grass, the lilacs growing in my neighbor's yard and at my brightly colored hanging flower baskets, I am reminded that He really does make all things new.

It seems like only yesterday that I looked out and saw the stark and lifeless scene of winter. Who in the world could change the mud of March into the beauty of June? Into my aforementioned cold and still world comes the singing of birds, the sunny faces of marigolds and the certainty of another bountiful garden.

I don't know what your life looks like this month, but I can guarantee you that God really does have the power and the desire to make all things new in your life - just like in my yard. Only God can take the dreariness of your life - and shine His love into it. He can deal with the weeds of disappointment and miraculously make room for the growth of promise and purpose.

What is it in your life that needs new breath? A new touch? New life? Is it your marriage ... your parenting skills ... your checkbook? Spend time with God Who oversees your life with such spectacular care and you will soon be reminded that He really does make all things new!

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away - behold, new things have come!"

- II Corinthians 5:17
